At 1818 meters high, Pico do Areeiro is one of the highest places of Madeira Island. There's an easy access road that leads us to the summit and one can find parking place, a restaurant, a souvenir shop and a military radar! At Pico do Areeiro starts a trekking trail towards Pico Ruivo the crosses amazing landscapes, passages through rock walls, ridges and tunnels. This path is visited by an average of 1000 tourists every day! If you want to trek there leave your heights fear at home, take a windproof jacket, a flashlight and make sure the weather is stable. Sudden storms can break up there, it can even snow, and you would be the first to get stuck in the mountains.
